Public access would top my list. Don’t lose your public access – once it is gone it’s gone! Proper toilet facilities, incorporated into some sort of waterfront building that could house harbour master’s office and a snack bar, or restaurant. Getting more creative, perhaps there’s a ship that could be brought to Collingwood and put ashore (for ease of maintenance) like the Princess Mary restaurant in Vancouver.I would love to see several waterfront restaurants. It’s a shame that with a geographical location such as the one that Collingwood is situated, that a restaurant with a lake view is non existent. I would like to see this harbour to be a welcoming place for the residents and tourists. The grain elevators need to be painted and fixed up so that they are a beautiful landmark , not an eyesore as they are now. Have seen many beautiful ports in this world and would like to see ours rivaling them. – GC
I would like to see the waterfront developed in a retail/commercial way with restaurants, shops, boardwalk, etc., for boaters and non-boaters alike. What is there now is a disgrace.  An integrated recreational, residential and commercial plan and solution for the lack of positive and progressive planning on the development to date, is desperately needed.
Nice restaurants that enjoy the view of Georgian Bay.-MI
It would be wonderful to have another “Boating destination” in the area. We are avid boaters and have visited most of the ports in and around Georgian Bay. We plan to continue and would love to have the chance to spend a few days in Collingwood. I’m sure you would get a lot of visiting boaters if you can provide a number of serviced slips for rent along with washrooms and shower facilities.
A waterfront that is visible to all with no high rise blocking same. An area with adequate parking for visitors to this beautiful city & a few stores & restaurant where one can sit & enjoy the beautiful view of the marina & water.
Waterside cafe’s and boutique shopping. Also tourist attractions like sea do rentals. Variety of slip sizes, including small jet ski slips, clubhouse with restaurant, variety store, visitor day and overnight slips, gas bar. -BD
Proper washrooms, laundry facilities for visiting boats, expanded harbour master presence (many boats launch without fee payment in off hours). A waterfront restaurant would enhance the harbour experience for everyone, residents and visitors alike.
Both resident and transient slips with Hydro -RG
Walkways, flowers & gardens, benches where one could sit and enjoy the beautiful shrubs and water views. Let’s take back our waterfront and fill the holes in the Shipyards. – JL
This is the best deep water harbour on Georgian bay, and we don’t have a municipal marina, water side restaurant. The harbour is big enough for all parties and should be shared. Status quo is never a good place. This harbour needs to be utilized by all, and can have phenomenal effect to downtown business’ and add vibrancy which does not exist today. An all inclusive harbour master plan can and should address all parties needs, including marina, dockside facilities, improved day docking, and to 100 additional slips, over and above a sculling course and a dragon boat course. Boating in the harbour must be governed, and developed to suit the needs of all parties. Having the needs of the few outweigh the needs of the many, under these circumstances, seems to me like a colossal waste of such a great natural deep water harbour. – GL
I am amazed that our Town Council does not see the broader picture regarding the economic benefits that would spin off from a top class marina in Collingwood. The rental income for the slips coupled with the increased guest boaters fees and personal spending by visitors and local boat owners at Loblaws, Sobeys , our many specialty shops, LCBO, and restaurants in our ” walk to” downtown seem obvious . Come on Collingwood Town Council — make our harbour a boaters destination like we now see in Owen Sound, Thornbury, and Midland, all of which have fine Municipal Marinas-KW
Rentals of kayaks and canoes, refreshments, boat slip rentals and an area for visitors to rent a slip for a weekend or day or even a week, sidewalk cafes and restaurants. Toilet Facilities concert/stage area. -BL
Meaford as small as it is has the best public marina on the west side of Georgian bay. I spend over 100 days living on the boat, spending thousands of dollars in food, restaurant, gas, shopping ( primarily in Meaford and Thornbury) as Collingwood harbour just does not have it together. Improvements to day use visitors arriving by boat. It should be the center piece of the waterfront. -SM
